RSIC-1

Low cost and high performance clip fastens to wood framed, steel framed, CMU, or concrete ceiling systems. The acoustical design load of each isolator is 36 lbs. This clip fastens directly to the framing or structure creating a 1 – ⅝” cavity between the framing and the back of the gypsum board.

Description

RSIC-1 is our most popular clip due to its low cost and high performance. The RSIC-1 assembly decouples and isolates the gypsum board or plywood from the structure leading to better acoustical performance. This clip prevents noise and vibrations from transfering through the structure. Made in the USA with recycled content.

Fastening

This clip fastens directly to the framing or structure creating a 1-⅝” cavity between the face of the framing and the back of the gypsum board.

The RSIC-1 can be fastened to a wood framed, steel framed, CMU, or concrete wall or ceiling system

RSIC-1 to Wood: #8 x 2-1/2 inch minimum size coarse thread screw. (Recommended #12 or #10 x 2-1/2 inch hex head)

RSIC-1 to Steel: # 8 x 1-5/8 inch minimum size fine thread screw. (Recommended #12 or #10 x 1-5/8 inch hex head)

DO NOT fasten Resilient Sound Isolation Clips (RSIC-1) to framing members with nails. Use only approved screws.

Clip Spacing and Dimensions

Maximum spacing for the resilient sound isolation clip (RSIC-1) is 48 inches on center.
RSIC-1 clip is 3″ tall and 1-¼” deep.

Acoustical Design Load Rating
Designed to withstand 36 lbs per isolator.
Supports up to two layers of ⅝ gypsum board when spaced at 24″ x 48″ oc.
For heavier systems increase the number of clips being used.
UL Fire Resistance
UL Fire resistive designs available ranging from 1hr to 4 hrs.
Acoustical Performance
STC rating depends on the construction material and assembly. Please refer to the RSIC-1 Advantage Acoustic Guide for acoustical performance results.
Applications

The RSIC-1 Sound Isolation Clip is ideal for condos and apartments where sound from neighbouring spaces transfers easily from one space into the other. The use of these acoustic clips decouples the drywall or ceiling from the structure preventing sound waves from easily transferring through, creating a quite living space.

This clip also performs outstandingly in commercial spaces such as retail spaces and theaters where typically the objective is to keep the sound within the space withouth it transferring to neighbouring spaces. The use of the RSIC-1 decouples the drywall or ceiling from the structure so that sound waves cannot be easily transferred through the structure into the other space.

In office environments the use of the RSIC-1 clip is recommended, especially for conference rooms in order to add sound privacy and not disturb the surrounding office areas while the conference room is in use.

Recording studios also benefit from the use of resilient sound isolation clips to prevent sound from transferring through the structure to the surrounding spaces.

RSIC-1 is commonly used to decouple the walls and ceilings within home theaters in or4.65der to have loud sound within the theater without disturbing other areas of the home.
